Southeast Asia: Gateway to a Single Market & Production Base in 2015

Southeast Asia remains resilient amidst persistent global economic uncertainty, projecting an average annual growth rate of 5.5% over the next five years to 2017. This signals that trade fairs continue to fulfil the industries’ needs as an international business conduit into the region. The region is increasingly becoming a manufacturing and industrial hub for many global companies seeking to locate and keep in touch with available business opportunities.

According to Global Industry Analysts, the global market for seamless pipes and tubes is projected to reach 113.8 million tonnes by 2018. In addition, the global market for spiral welded pipes and tubes is projected to reach 24.6 million tonnes by 2018, driven by economic recovery, increase in activity in the energy sector and growing pipeline construction projects. Industry reports indicate that the Asia-Pacific region represents the largest market worldwide, driven primarily by increased use in transporting natural gas. Similarly, business opportunities in the wire and cable industries are estimated to contribute approximately 3% of the world’s production of wire and cable.

Against this dynamic backdrop, Mr Gernot Ringling, Managing Director of Messe Düsseldorf Asia comments, “wire and Tube Southeast ASIA is taking place at a critical time for the wire, cable, tube and pipe industries both in the region and globally. Companies scanning the region for market opportunities to diversify products, markets and suppliers will find wire and Tube Southeast Asia the ideal platform for lucractive business exchange and networking opportunities.”

According to Mr Ringling, this year’s trade fairs will see a comprehensive display of products and services aimed particularly at enhancing productivity and operations, as well as cost-effective solutions. “In response to this emphasis, exhibitors will focus on innovation, from the latest processes, systems, services and products to meet supplier demands for productivity and efficiency gains. Trade visitors can also expect to see more machinery and equipment at this year’s trade fairs.”

Integrating Market Opportunities with Industry Growth

A series of technical seminars have been designed to bring wire Southeast Asia closer to the wire and cable industry providing unique insights into the trends shaping this sector. The first round of technical seminars will kick-start in Seoul, Korea on 22 July followed by Jakarta on 24 July, ending off in Bangkok on 26 July.

Business strategies focused on innovation, production efficiency and productivity will be explored during the sessions.
These visits are designed to provide a targeted learning platform to approximately 500 manufacturers of wire, cable in these countries. Organized as a prelude to the trade fair, these technical seminars also form an initiative to provide insights into how organisations can prepare for the intensive competition with the development of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015.

The trade fair is supported by numerous prominent industry associations that include IWCEA (International Wire and Cable Exhibitors’ Association), International Wire and Machinery Association, ACIMAF (Italian Wire Machinery Manufacturer’s Association), Iron and Steel Institute of Thailand, and many others. Thailand’s largest trade fair for the wire and cable industry is all about machinery and equipment, materials trends and accessories used for making all types of wire and cable, and innovative solutions for the wire and cable sector.
