Xiris Appoints New Sales Manager for SE Asia
Xiris Automation Inc. is pleased to announce that it has devel- oped a weld microphone system that integrates into its Xiris weld camera system!
Being able to use sight and sound while welding will improve oper- ators’ abilities to ne tune and monitor the welding process from a safe distance. This is important for critical welding applications where the process needs to be monitored from further away, such as in a control room.
The microphone system is specif- ically designed for the welding environment and includes the microphone, cables, and a spe- cialized signal processing card embedded in the Xiris HMI. Addi- tional software features include
the ability to record and playback audio with the video and also equalize the audio to enhance or minimize surrounding noise.

Xiris Celebrates 30 Years!
Xiris is pleased to celebrate its 30th anniversary as of Septem- ber, 2019. Founded 30 years ago by Cameron Serles, the business was initially set up to commer- cialize the budding technology of machine vision, where cameras are used to acquire images of manufactured goods and send them to computers for processing. Back in 1989 when the company started, most manufacturers were highly skeptical of the success of
using cameras to measure the size or shape of their manufactured goods. As a result, the rst few years were tough until the tech- nology slowly gained acceptance, initially in the automotive and semiconductor industries, then eventually embraced in applica- tions across all forms of manufac- turing and materials processing. Now it is a well accepted technol- ogy, but it has been a long journey for Xiris and other similar compa-
nies to establish their market and business.
