Yokohama Tube & Pipe 2011 Joint Symposium
(held in Osaka)

Despite the devastating effects of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan in March this year the Japan Society for Technology of Plasticity (JSTP) and the ITA went ahead with their planned joint symposium in June.  The event was relocated to Osaka as a precaution because the Yokohama region was still experiencing regular power cuts following the damage to the Fukushima nuclear power plant.

Such was the level of interest in the technical programme compiled by Professors Kiuchi and Murata and ITA Chairman Mr T Nakata more than 180 participants attended the two-day event. The JSTP is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and in recognition of this milestone the ITA sponsored a beer and wine reception for all delegates.

Thirty seven papers were presented at the symposium, including several highly informative market overviews of the Chinese steel industry, the challenges facing European steel tube producers, the present status and future scope of the tube industry in China and emerging opportunities and investments in Brazil.

The ITA has a very limited number of proceedings books of the symposium available on a first come first served basis for US$180 including postage.  Please contact the ITA Secretariat for more details.
