CONFERENCE REPORT

Former US President Bill Clinton wasn’t the only attraction in Veracruz, Mexico in the middle of October. The town was the chosen venue for the ITA’s biennial major international technical conference which was attended by nearly 100 delegates from 20 countries with strong representation from Central and South America. (see below for a list of participants)

The theme of the conference “ADDED VALUE TECHNOLOGY - Solutions For Profitable Tube Production” provided a framework for technical and economic sessions covering both the welded and seamless sectors with presentations from over 30 speakers from all corners of the globe.

Local company TenarisTamsa, one of the world’s leading seamless tube producers, provided substantial support for the conference with four technical speakers, conference chairman Senor R. Vilate (Technical Director of TenarisTamsa) and the hosting of a cocktail reception featuring entertainment from a famous Mexican harpist and recording artist Delfino Guerrero. Delegates were also invited to tour the TenarisTamsa plant.
