Reminder of ITA 30th anniversary activities in 2009
The ITA has already marked this milestone in its history in 2009 in a number of ways.
“Past, Present & Future”, the commemorative brochure published by the ITA in February 2009, was sent to every member and has been very well received, undoubtedly strengthening pride in membership of this influential association. The brochure has certainly helped newer members in developing economies to better understand the history, aims and ethos of the Association.
Members attending the Tube Russia 2009 exhibition in Moscow enjoyed an informal drinks reception on the ITA booth on 14 May. A few days later on 20 May, following the 30th annual general meeting of the ITA in Birmingham, UK many members and distinguished special guests, some of whom have played significant roles in the Association’s history, enjoyed a special buffet lunch and a chance to talk about old times.

Amongst the special guests were Joachim Schaefer and Friedrich Kehrer from Messe Dusseldorf, respectively Managing Director of the group and Project Director of the Tube Düsseldorf exhibition. In a well received speech Joachim Schaefer referred to the very close and happy long term relationship between the ITA and his organisation and his appreciation for the important role of the Association as the industry partner for Tube Dusseldorf and their other exhibitions worldwide.

Messe Düsseldorf had arranged for the provision of a superb anniversary cake and also presented a beautiful commemorative plaque and some aluminium tubes for every guest containing a surprise gift. These gestures were much appreciated by all the members present.
There are still other celebrations to come this year to which all members are invited if they are attending the event at which they are taking place. If any members are able to attend the ITA‘s officers and board members will be delighted to welcome them.
