ITA “pleasantly surprised” by interim Fabtech exhibition in Las Vegas

The 2008 interim Fabtech exhibition was held for the first time in Las Vegas from 6-8 October and attracted more than 21,000 visitors, of which 12,000 attended on the first day. Generally the consensus of both exhibitors and visitors was that the event exceeded expectations.

This is certainly the view of the ITA, which was pleasantly surprised with the results of its participation. Working from a small information desk style booth Don Bugden and his excellent support team of two local staff secured more than 300 new contacts and enquiries and undoubtedly the exhibition provided an excellent platform from which to promote the benefits of ITA membership to the North American industry.

Don, who is a member of both the ITA’s North American and International Executive Management Boards, represented the ITA at the exhibition at very short notice and the association and ITA vice chairman Terry Banach are very grateful to him for his sterling work in Las Vegas.

The main biennial Fabtech exhibition in 2009 will run from 15-18 November in Chicago and it has been announced that the 2010 interim Fabtech will be in Atlanta from 2-4 November. In addition a new exhibition Fabtech Mexico has been announced by the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association (FMA) and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and other affiliated bodies aimed at the impressively developing Mexican and Central American markets. The event will run from 2-4 June 2009 at the Cintermex exhibition centre in Monterrey. It is hoped that subsequently the exhibition will become an annual event, alternating between Monterrey and Mexico City.

Plans are underway to alternate the location of the combined annual event between Monterrey and Mexico City. Exhibitors are encouraged to use FABTECH Mexico as a platform to introduce their products and processes to a core audience of Mexico’s metal fabricating professionals.
