Successful relocation for Metal Expo 2008, Moscow 11-15 November

Recent editions of this metal industry exhibition had been held at the old Soviet style site All Russian Exhibition Centre (VDNK). However, for the 2008 event the organisers relocated to the modern and very well appointed Crocus Expo complex on the outskirts of the city. The good facilities at Crocus did compensate for the rather long and arduous journey to and from the exhibition, there being no hotels convenient to the site.

For the first time the ITA decided to exhibit at Metal Expo, having previously only visited the event. The ITA remains a very committed sponsor of Tube Russia, jointly organised by Messe Düsseldorf and the Metal Expo organisation, but decided to try this additional exhibition to reach an audience that might not always attend Tube Russia. Apart from promoting membership to the Russian-speaking industry the ITA’s main focus was on raising awareness of the major Pipe & Tube Istanbul 09 technical conference, which will be conducted in English with Turkish and Russian translation and is expected to attract a fair sized delegation from Russia and its former states.

Discussions with many visitors and exhibitors certainly indicated that the Istanbul conference in November 2009 will be of great interest to the Russian industry. During the course of the exhibition the ITA secured over thirty firm enquiries that were followed up by Nataliya Koryaka, the ITA’s representative for the region. On the whole Metal Expo 2008 was a useful complimentary exhibition to Tube Russia, the ITA’s main forum for the Russian-speaking world.
