Vasiliy Atanasov Named 'Honorary Citizen of Nikopol'
The Nikopol City Council voted for naming Vasiliy Atanasov - shareholder and co-founder of CENTRAVIS Holding – an honorary citizen of Nikopol for a significant contribution to the development of the city, as well as on the occasion of his 80th anniversary.
Following a decision by The Nicopol City Council as of April 24, 2015, Vasiliy Atanasov – shareholder and co-founder of CENTRAVIS Holding, technology advisor for CENTRAVIS PRODUCTION UKRAINE PJSC; Board member of CENTRAVIS Holding, and Supervisory Board member of CENTRAVIS Charity Fund – was named an honorary citizen of Nikopol (Dnipropetrovsk region, Ukraine) and awarded "Honor and Glory" insignia.
Vasiliy Atanasov is a man standing at the origins of CENTRAVIS, a leading global supplier of high quality solutions in the segment of seamless stainless steel tubes, and one of the most successful enterprises in the city and the whole of Dnipropetrovsk region. At 80, Mr. Atanasov takes part in the Company’s operational management as a member of the Holding's Board of Directors, and consults the top management on technology issues.
Recognizing Vasiliy Atanasov's valuable input, employees of the company as well as other honorary citizens of the city solicited to have him awarded the well-deserved honorary title. These requests were joined by professionals in the field of medicine and education, who referred to the support that CENTRAVIS has been providing to the city in the recent years.
Honorary citizenship was awarded to Mr. Atanasov for his significant contribution to the development of tube & pipe production, development of the region and particularly the city of Nikopol, as well as high level of professionalism, increased production efficiency, production of competitive products and proactive stance, as well as to congratulate Vasiliy Atanasov on his 80th anniversary to take place on April 28, 2015.
Vasiliy Atanasov's experience in metallurgy is truly immense. After graduating from the Dnepropetrovsk Metallurgical Institute as a metallurgy engineer, he had worked at the Nikopol Yuzhnotrubny Plant from 1959 to 1975, where he went from being a rolling-mill assistant to becoming a foreman. In 1975, he joined the All-Union Scientific Research Institute of Pipe Industry (Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine).
Throughout his professional path, Mr. Atanasov has been repeatedly awarded diplomas and marks of distinction for his high labor achievements. In 1972, for example, he received the Diploma of the Ministry of Ferrous Metallurgy of the USSR, and in 1986, he was awarded the USSR State Prize for the development of stainless steel tubes production technology.
In the early 1990s, he and his sons – Sergei and Yuriy – founded the production and commercial enterprise UVIS, which in 2000 won the tender for the privatization of two shops of The Nikopol Yuzhnotrubny Plant. As a result of privatization, a new production company named Nikopol Plant of Stainless Steel Tubes CJSC (NSTM) was formed. In 2006 this mill along with other UVIS assets, became a part of the international CENTRAVIS holding, and is now well-known in Ukraine and abroad as CENTRAVIS PRODUCTION UKRAINE PJSC.
After moving from Nikopol to Dnipropetrovsk in 1975, Vasiliy Atanasov has never lost connection with the city in which he acquired his profession, and has been actively supporting social and educational projects in Nikopol, working in the Supervisory Board of the charitable fund CENTRAVIS. In July 2013, Vasiliy Atanasov received an honorary award of the Dnipropetrovsk regional state administration – a badge "For the Development of the Region". Now, his achievements are recognized in his home city of Nikopol, which has named him its honorary citizen.
