The ITA was honored to have Dr.C.Ganguly, Chairman and Chief Executive of the Nuclear Fuel Complex, Hyderabad as Chief Guest. Dr. Ganguly’s keynote speech included a high proportion of technical information about the development of special tubes at the complex as well as a balanced and well-argued view on the importance of nuclear energy in a developing India.

Recognising the vital importance of quality to the end-user ITA had invited customer viewpoint presentations from the increasingly important Indian automobile industry sector. Ms. Pamela Tikku, Asst.Director of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers gave their view, followed by Mr.M.G.S.Kukreja, of the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India. Both presentations provided highly informative insights for tube manufacturers.

The customer viewpoints were followed by a series of excellent technical papers covering sectors as diverse as automobiles, oil & gas, nuclear, special applications, water pipes and construction industries. Recycling of zinc by-products was the closing paper of the first day.

During the evening delegates and speakers attended a social function at the Taj Krishna Hotel. The local Hyderabad company, ITW Signode hosted a cocktail reception and arranged a performance of Indian classical dance that delighted the international audience. Mr.S.Manzer Hussain of TATA Steel hosted an al fresco dinner.

Day 2 of the conference opened with a thought-provoking paper on measuring supply chain performance by Mosa Al-Hadad of Saudi Steel Pipe. Then followed a session covering equipment and the conference concluded with a final session on finishing and testing.

The delegates present found the conference very enjoyable and highly informative and were impressed by the conference facilities provided. The ITA was pleased to receive such a feedback as well as suggestions for future conference themes and structures.
