Northern region of Iraq is opening its doors. International Erbil Gas and Oil Conference & Exhibition will take its place as the first and foremost gas and oil exhibition of the region. Multi-billion dollar region has achieved its first oil import in June 2009 with the authorization of Iraqi government. It is also planning to import gas in near future.

There is already number of companies operating in the region. These are usually smaller companies compared to average scale of the industry. Bigger names have waited because of the conflict between the central government and the region.
